We purchased tickets because Nonito Donaire was expected to fight but at the last minute he was removed from the card. Rating: 3 out of 5 Underwhelmed by Nena on 7/18/23.Honestly I prefer to be compensated or something for our lost of money and inconvenience The fight it self was good but you all sold seats that was not available not only did we have to move but we was put in an area that was way behind and was not value at our price we paid. Rating: 5 out of 5 Not a pleasant experience by Deloris on 7/19/23.Love to see MGM National Harbor dedicate more events to boxing in the near future. Thank you to Showtime for supporting the sweet science. The fans came out for the local fighters and were into the bouts. The main event was a dud.īig time boxing in DC should be monthly not yearly. The balcony seats were amazing! The fights leading up to main event were action packed and enjoyable. Rating: 4 out of 5 Lion to lamb by Catovsjulius on 8/15/23.Am planning to attend more events at this venue. An overall great way to spend $200 bucks in the DMV. We loved the instant replays between the rounds which the other boxing events we have attended failed to provide. Only wish they offered some small food choices other than chips and candy ( hotdog, nachos, popcorn, pizza, something would have been nice), and i would give them 5 stars. My wife and I didn't feel unsafe and it was a wonderful evening of entertainment. The vantage point was ideal and the staff was extremely helpful and attentive. It wad the first time we had experienced an event at this venue. ![]() Went to the boxing event a t MGM National Harbour. In September 2019, welterweight Errol Spence Jr., fresh off his domination of Mikey Garcia, bested Shawn Porter in a frenetic split decision, unifying the IBF and WBC belts and moving Spence closer to the top of the pound-for-pound rankings. The champ rallied, and in the 10th he overwhelmed Ortiz, ending the fight with a huge right uppercut.īut the PBC is a lot more than Wilder. Ortiz came back and nearly knocked out Wilder in the seventh. The cautious, pawing exchanges of the early rounds gave way in the fifth to a big right from Wilder that buckled Ortiz's knees and then a second right that sent him to the floor. In 2018, Wilder took on Luiz Ortiz at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn in one of the great bouts of the promotion's brief history. Stiverne managed just two jabs and two power shots in all. The following year, Wilder swarmed challenger Bermane Stiverne, knocking him down three times before the fight was stopped in the waning moments of the first round. In 2016, Wilder knocked out Artur Szpilka in the ninth round with a cannon shot from his right hand. There've been a lot of fireworks since then, heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder providing many of them. The first PBC card was in 2015, and it was broadcast on NBC, with Keith Thurman as the headliner and Adrien Broner and Abner Mares on the undercard. Champs and ex-champs and legit prospects abound: Deontay Wilder, Adonis Stevenson, David Benavidez, Jermall and Jermell Charlo, Jarrett Hurd, Errol Spence Jr., Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, Mikey Garcia, Leo Santa Cruz, Gary Russell Jr., Abner Mares, Brandon Figueroa, Danny Garcia, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Jarrett Hurd, and Gervonta Davis. Just look at the names in the PBC promotion. Manager Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions series features top-level fights all around the country (and across the television landscape). ![]()
